Tote Superpools see 60% jump in three days of Royal Ascot

Tote Superpools saw significant growth in the first three days of the Royal Ascot races in the U.K., taking in bets worth GBP80 million ($99 million), up 60 percent on the prior year.

Punters from 20 leading racing nations, including Hong Kong are betting into a single World Pool at the event, which is being held behind closed doors due to Covid-19.

This year there have already been 16 Swinger and Quinella pools in excess of £1 million.

“Royal Ascot never disappoints and despite the challenging circumstances it is once again proving to be a wonderful week of world class racing,” said UK Tote Group CEO Alex Frost. “Bringing together leading racing nations to bet into a single World Pool is seeing a significant increase in pool sizes and providing some excellent value for Tote customers. It is very exciting to launch Tote Superpools at Royal Ascot and see what can be achieved when pool betting operators work together. We are really looking forward to the final two days of the Royal meeting.”

The Ascot World Pool was launched in 2019 and formed a key part of the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s commingling strategy.
