Tourists less satisfied with Macau casinos


The level of satisfaction with Macau’s casinos fell in the first quarter, though visitors to the territory reported increased enthusiasm with shopping and leisure, according to the Institute for Tourism Studies Research Centre.

The institute’s overall satisfaction index fell to 69.2 in the first quarter from 69.7 a year earlier, while the satisfaction rate with casinos dropped 2.5 points from 70.4 in 2013 to 67.9 points, ranking it seventh among the main tourism categories.

Retail shops, which rank second, managed to improve their performance with a level of 72.8 points, up from 71.3 points, with hospitality coming in third.

The top sector was events, however, its performance fell by 3.3 points to 77.5 points from a year ago.

The level of tourism satisfaction with tour operators and guided tours also fell.
