U.S. Court dismisses appeal filed by 500 guest workers of Tinian Dynasty

The U.S. Court of Appeals has dismissed the appeal filed by more than 500 guest workers of Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino who sued the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary for denying their CW-1 petitions, local media reports.

The U.S. court dismissed the appeal after both parties jointly requested dismissal.

In May, 2015, District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V Manglona denied a request from the workers to amend the lawsuit, ruling that they could only re-file their lawsuit once the administrative appeals of the casino owner, Hong Kong Entertainment, on the worker's’ behalf were completed.

In their recent appeal, the workers asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to reverse the District court’s ruling.

The plaintiffs can re-file a new and timely notice of appeal in the future.
