Unlicensed operators advertising from Melco properties, report finds

A six-month investigative report by the Four Corners team at the Australian Broadcasting Corp. claims to have discovered unlicensed individuals and companies advertising from Melco Crown Entertainment’s properties in Macau. The report said the names and addresses of the operators were listed in the territory’s Yellow Pages. The companies included, Kuok Kei Junket Promoter Ltd and Lion City International Gaming Promoter Svc Ltd, the report said.Crown told the news team that it "only deals with junket operators licensed by the Macau government."The company said some employees of licensed junket operators have established phone lines [land lines] as part of their work at the resort casinos and rather than put those phone numbers in the name of their employer, they put the numbers in their own name. This is quite common in Macau and occurs at other casinos there, a company spokeswoman told Four Corners. The report, which explored Macau’s links with money laundering and organized crime, said the revelation is a small example of gaping loopholes in Macau casino regulation.
