While the mass market continues drive GGR recovery, it was growth in VIP GGR which stood out most in the second quarter of 2017, says Union Gaming analysts in a Thursday note.
According to the brokerage, 17Q2 was the first time in nearly six years that growth in VIP ( which grew 30.8 percent) outpaced that of the mass market (which grew 14.8 percent).
Slot GGR also increased in the quarter, rising 15.8 percent - bringing the total GGR growth to 22 percent in 17Q2.
With the August’s GGR figures soon to be posted, Union gaming says it expects GGR growth for the month to be in the 20 percent range, due mainly to Typhoon Hato and Pakhar, which is likely to have dampened GGR for the month.
The brokerage additionally says it expects September GGR growth to be in the high teens.
