Visitor spending increases 8.8 pct in 17Q3


Total visitor spending in Macau, excluding gaming, grew 8.8 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2017, according to data from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).

Total spending was MOP15.9 billion (US$2.0 billion), made up mostly by overnight visitors (MOP13.0 billion), followed by same day visitors (MOP2.9 billion).

Per-capita spending of visitors rose 6.7 percent year-on-year, with per-capita spending from mainland China increasing 4.6 percent.

With regard to types of spending, visitors spent mainly on shopping at 46.4 percent, followed by accommodation at 26.7 percent, and food and beverage at 19.3 percent.
