Visitors down over long weekend

Macau saw a total of 402,846 visitors during the Easter holiday period, down 4.7 percent from the same period in 2017, local media reports.

According to data released from the Public Security Force (PSP) on Tuesday, around 1.05 million inbound and outbound movements were registered in all Macau checkpoints during the long weekend from March 30 to April 2.

Last year, Macau saw total visitor arrivals grow 5.4 percent, reaching 32.6 million, said the head of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes.

Visitors from Korea ranked first among international markets, with over 870,000 visitors arriving to Macau in the year. Japan, Philippines and Indonesia also clocked single-digit growth in 2017.
