Visitors increased 5.7 percent in March: DSEC


Visitor arrivals to Macau increased 5.7 percent year-on-year to 2.5 million in March, up slightly by 0.2 percent month-to-month, according to data from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).

Overnight visitors through the month rose 13.9 percent year-on-year to 1.3 million, while same-day visitors decreased 2.4 percent to 1.2 million.

The month  also saw an increase of 11.5 percent year-on-year to 1.7 million in the month. The number of those travelling under the Individual Visit Scheme (IVS) visa rose 18.4 percent in the month, noted the DSEC.

The results brought the first quarter total visitor arrivals to 7.9 million, up 5.6 percent year-on-year compared to 16Q1.
