Vocational school launching IR education course

The Jikei School of Hospitality in Osaka has launched the first program by a vocational school to educate students for the anticipated IR industry.

Recruitment has already begun for a three-year course on “IR Hotels & Resorts” and a four-year course on “IR and MICE Management.” The first classes are scheduled to begin in April 2020. Students will spend either six months or a year abroad doing an internship and strengthening their foreign language skills.

The press release explains, “IR studies at the Jikei School of Hospitality will fulfill the dreams of many students to become active within an IR, to be able to handle multiple cultures, and to develop advanced hospitality skills and knowledge as a global worker.”

With the passage of the IR Implementation Act last year, educational programs for students hoping to join the industry have been emerging in rapid succession, but this is the first entry by an established vocational school.
