Widus International plans $100m expansion of Philippines casino

South Korea’s Widus Hotel and Casino plans to spend $100 million to expand its casino operations at the Clark Freeport Zone in the Philippines.

The company also plans to seek a stock market listing there, local media cited CEO Daesik Han as saying in a round-table interview. That would take its total investments in Clark to $200 million.

The additional investment will be used for the construction of a new 250 to 300 room hotel, a convention center, restaurants, new casino, new features and amenities.

The expansion phase, which is expected to be completed in 4 to 5 five years, will cover a 3 hectare-area adjoining the existing 4.7 hectare facility. Construction will start in May or June next year. At present, Widus Hotel has 230 rooms. Widus Casino originally had 25 tables and 50 slot machines. Now, its casino has doubled its tables to 50 and slot machines to 250, the report said.
