Wynn Resorts appoints three new independent directors

Wynn Resorts has announced the appointment of three new independent directors, and the expansion of its board to 11 members.

The announcement comes only a day after Elaine Wynn, ex-wife of the embattled Steve Wynn, sought for a restructure in the company’s corporate governance through a shake up of the board of directors.

The new directors, which include Betsy Atkins, Dee Dee Myers and Wendy Webb, were approved at a previously scheduled meeting in-person in Las Vegas earlier this week.

In a filing, Wynn Resorts said the appointments were made after a lengthy search by the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee with the assistance of a search firm, were for solely independent candidates. The company said it also advances the company's commitment to diversify the gender, skills and experience of the board.

“These independent directors strengthen the Board's expertise in corporate governance, communications and public affairs, technology, strategic positioning, hospitality and branding,” it said.
