Yokohama to hold citizen briefings on IR study results

The Yokohama municipal government, which says it has made no decisions about whether or not to pursue an IR bid, will be holding two explanatory meetings for citizens later this month about the results of its RFI process for the Yamashita Pier site.

These one-hour meetings will be held on June 25 and 26 in four different parts of the city. The capacity for the events is between 80 and 100 people.

At the end of last month the Yokohama city government released a fuller account of the results of the RFI process, which included submissions from twelve companies, including eight major IR operators.

The holding of these public meetings will inevitably raise hopes and suspicions that the Yokohama municipal government intends to move forward with an IR bid, in spite of its continuing declarations that no such decision has been made.
