First batch of POGO licensees to start renewing in Oct

Nearly all of the 45 firms licensed under the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) scheme will soon be required to renew their licenses should they wish to continue offering online gambling games, local media reports.

According to The Inquirer’s Big Buzz, a total of 37 licensees will be renewing their permits next month at a cost of P200,000 per license.

The first batch of POGO licenses were issued around the end of October last year. At the time, Pagcor CEO Andrea Domingo stipulated that licenses would last for a year, following which there may be changes to the rules and regulations.

When asked how much revenue the current POGO scheme has brought to the country’s coffers, Domingo said the total stands at P5.5 billion in licensing fees and royalties.
