G2E Asia expects bumper year

G2E Asia kicks off in Macau on Tuesday, with organizers predicting a record-breaking turnout for the three-day event.

The show is expected to attract more than 12,000 visitors this year, beating last year’s 10,887 which was also a record level. Nearly one third of the 180 exhibitors are participating for the first time, with buyers from 90 countries and regions.

"Our goal is to create the most comprehensive experience possible with conference and in-show features that complement the expo, which truly serves as the marketplace for the Asian gaming industry. With interactive educational and networking opportunities, attendees will receive added benefits and opportunities to learn from colleagues and experts within the fast-growing Asian gaming industry," said Josephine Lee, chief operating officer of Reed Exhibitions Greater China.

Galaxy Entertainment Vice-Chairman Francis Lui will give the opening address, tackling the topic of working together to ensure Macau stays relevant. Gross gambling revenue in Macau is predicted to rise this year, marking a return to growth after three years of decline. However, with new properties opening around Asia and Japan set to open its market to casinos, Macau will face new challenges.

The conference program includes the iGaming Summit on Thursday dedicated to new developments in the online sphere, a program from the International Association of Gaming Advisors focused on best practices, AML and regulation and an Asian Lottery forum.

In addition to the exhibition and three-day conference, there is a also a crowded social calendar. The highlight for Tuesday night will be the Asia Gaming Awards, with more than 300 industry participants gathering in The Parisian for a gala dinner to celebrate this year’s winners.

There are 12 awards to be given out, covering products and services from both the land-based and online industries. There will also be two special accolades for up and coming leaders in the industry and for corporate social responsibility.

Wednesday night will be the turn of the suppliers, with their annual bash this year to be held in Bene restaurant in Sands Cotai.
