Greenland committed to Queensland projects despite Echo defeat

Chinese property company Greenland Group says it will keep bidding for major construction projects in Queensland, despite being defeated in its bid with Crown Resorts to redevelop the Queen’s Wharf in Brisbane, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Greenland Group, in a joint bid with Crown Resorts, lost out to Echo for a chance to build a $1.5 billion Queen's Wharf development.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said Echo Entertainment and its partners were awarded the tender because they appeared properly financed and ready to proceed.

"One of the signature efforts was this large amount of public space that families will be able to enjoy," Palaszczuk was quoted by the SMH as saying..

"Plus the probity checks, as well as the consortium was able to demonstrate to the government that they are ready to proceed. We needed to have that financial security, but also, we wanted to minimise any risk."

But Greenland Australia's development and marketing director Kang Xue told Fairfax Media there were no issues it knew of with its offer and it will continue to bid for major projects both in Queensland and Australia.
