Melco buys A330 to add to fleet, MNA reports


Melco Reports & Entertainment has bought a third plane, an Airbus A330, to its fleet to transport VIP gamers to its properties, MNA reports.

Melco paid US$80 million (MOP646.1 million) to purchase the used plane from an airline and spent an additional US$50 million to convert the aircraft to private usage with a gym, two bedrooms and 31 first-class seats, the report said.

MNA said Melco CEO Lawrence Ho confirmed the purchase and said he may also use the plane for personal use.

Melco has properties in Macau and the Philippines and is constructing and IR in Cyprus. It also recently bought an almost 20 percent stake in Australia’s Crown Resorts. The company is also pushing hard for a license in Japan.

The company also owns an A319, and a Global 5000 jet, as well as a helicopter.
