Select committee to discuss Nagaland skill games bill

The Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) in India has announced a meeting of the select committee to deliberate on the Nagaland Prohibition of Gambling and Promotion and Regulation of Online Games of Skill Bill, 2015, according to local sources.

The meeting has been set for Feb. 10, at 11am in the Committee Room of the Assembly Secretariat. All the committee members have been requested to attend the meeting.

Nagaland was the first state in India to introduce special legislation to regulate and license online skill games like poker, rummy and fantasy sports. However, the Bill was not passed in Jul. 2015 due to opposition from the powerful religious group Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC).
