666Bet director arrested amid fraud probe

Following the UK Gambling Commission’s suspension of 666Bet’s license, it has emerged that the director of the firm has been arrested in a £21 million ($31 million) fraud probe.

Paul Bell, who is linked to two Premier League football clubs, was reportedly arrested at Heathrow airport in London last week as part of a joint money-laundering investigation by the U.K.’s customs authority and the National Crime Agency, the Daily Mail newspaper reported.

The arrest follows an announcement last week that 666Bet and its subsidiary Metro Play Ltd. were being investigated over suspicions the company was “unsuitable to carry on the licensed activities.”

Six other people were arrested, 13 properties were raided and £1 million in cash was also seized as part of the investigation, according to the Mail.

The online firm announced deals with football clubs West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City last year, and signed former Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp to appear in its adverts

'I just did an advert for them. I don't know anything about it at all. Not a clue.' Redknapp told the Independent on Sunday.
