The number of Chinese leaving mainland China surpassed 10 percent of the entire 517 million international travellers in the first half of this year, according to the China Outbound Tourism Research Institute, citing UNWTO figures.
The total number of border crossings out of mainland China were 54 million. Part of the travel is linked to the growing amount of Chinese investment overseas. According to COTRI, Chinese investors are buying assets worth more than $100 billion a year.
COTRI is organizing two China workshops during the World Travel Market in London on Nov. 4th to discuss the latest in China travel trends.
The workshop is free of charge and will be held between 11.00 and 12.00 h in South Gallery 15/16 at the ExCeL in London.
