Chow's Cape Verde resort gets green light

Cape Verde’s tourism minister is due to visit China later this month to sign a contract with David Chow for investment in a luxury project being built on the islet of Santa Maria.

The Macau Daily Times reported that the minister, who is due to travel on 23 July, will meet the CEO of Macau Legend Development for an investment of $250 million in the project, which includes a luxury hotel, convention center, a marina and a bridge connecting the islet to the mainland.

Chow is Cape Verde’s honorary consul in Macau and has been planning for a long time to invest in the Portuguese-speaking country.

Construction on the project is currently under public consultation and due to start in 2016.

Cape Verde comprises 10 islands and five islets, all but three of which are mountainous. The archipelago lies around 500 km off the west coast of Africa.
