Decision for sixth offshore casino to be made in Feb

The Goa government has been given four weeks to make its decision on whether to license its sixth offshore casino, local media reports.

Golden Globe Hotels Private Limited (GGHPL) filed a petition to the high court of Bombay, alleging that the Goa government had failed to decide on its application for the renewal of its offshore casino license, even after it had been paying Rs 44.5 crore (US$6.5 million) in annual recurring fees over the last five years.

During the recent hearing of the petition, additional advocate general D Lawande said the decision on the application, and all connected applications will be taken by the authorities concerned within four weeks.

Amit Garg, who filed the petition on behalf of GGHPL, has also sought direction from the court to grant the offshore casino licence, permission to change the vessel and permission for a new mooring place, according to Times of India.
