Macau’s gaming regulator will have around 482 gaming tables up for allocation after the opening of SJM’s Grand Lisboa Palace in 2019, according to analysts.
In its “Macau pipeline in pictures” - April 2018 update, which was released by Union Gaming on Tuesday, the brokerage noted that under the table games cap, there are around 657 tables currently available for allocation post MGM Cotai launch.
“Under the assumption that SJM also gets an initial batch of 100 tables for Grand Lisboa Palace in 2019, and that the government allocates “catch-up” tables to MGM and SJM after the license situation is finalized, this would leave 482 tables in the government’s Inventory,” said the brokerage.
The gaming table cap was first implemented in 2012, running through to 2022, which rougly equates to around 3 percent annual growth rate.
At the time of the cap there were 5,500 tables in the market, which suggested 1,892 new tables could be issued through 2022, said the analysts.
