The first of two briefings regarding the RFI process of Wakayama’s expected IR bid revealed strong interest from the business community as a total of 49 companies sent representatives to the event.
A total of ten international IR operators joined the event, with the rest roughly evenly split between local Wakayama companies and Japanese firms from outside the prefecture. Construction companies and food companies were well represented within the Japanese ranks.
The briefing on Saturday, led by the auditing firm EY, was conducted at a hotel at the Marina City site, and included a tour of the local fish market and yacht harbor.
The second of the two briefings is scheduled to be held in Tokyo on this Wednesday, June 13.
