HC allows rummy operators to carry on business

The Hyderabad High Court has given permission for online rummy petitioners, who are currently disputing the online gaming ban in Telangana, to continue operations outside of the state, local media reports.

The division bench of the high court has been dealing with batch petitions from rummy operators including Junglee Games India Private Ltd, Play Games24x7 Pvt Ltd, and Head Infotech (India) Pvt Ltd, who have challenged the Ordinance issued by the government which banned online rummy in the state earlier this month.

The petitioners are contesting that rummy is a game of skill, and not a game of chance, and have asked the HC for relief until the matter is settled.

The petitioners' arguments will be heard by the TS advocate general on July 3.
