Incheon to open Korea’s largest cruise terminal in April 2019


South Korea is building its largest cruise ship terminal in Incheon, which is set to open in April 2019, according to a report from Business Korea.

This will be the first time the Seoul metropolitan area will have a pier capable of handling large-scale cruise ships with the capacity to carry 5,000 to 6,000 passengers.

According to the Incheon Port Authority (IPA), the cruise terminal is currently under construction in Songdo International City District 9, with plans to open on April 26.

Currently, domestic cruise docks are located in Busan, Seogwipo Gangjung, Jeju and Sokcho.

IPA said they plan to operate a 114,000-ton cruise ship Costa Serena on the Incheon-Shanghai-Fukuoka-Busan route in partnership with Lotte Tour.

Internal space of the cruise ship, which will have have a swimming pool, theatre, casino is larger than 20 football fields combined.
