Konami building major eSports facility in Ginza

Konami is building a twelve-story building in the Ginza district of Tokyo that will be dedicated to esports, the popularity of which is rapidly expanding in Japan.

The facility, to be called Konami Creative Center (KCC Ginza), is expected to open its doors in November of this year and feature video, audio, and communications systems suitable for esports. There will also be a 200-person arena, a shop, and classes offered about esports.

Konami Real Estate President Kimihiko Higashio commented, “Konami Creative Center Ginza is not only about the production of games, but rather is to be a new base for the Konami Group to create new forms of entertainment.”

Konami appears to be calculating that promoting the knowledge and spread of esports in Japan generally is also a useful strategy to grow their own company specifically.
