Macau Legend revises height for Legendale Hotel

Macau Legend Development has changed the height limit for its new hotel on Fisherman's Wharf following public outcry, Macau TDM reports.

The company, which is developing the Legendale Hotel on the wharf, had previously proposed a building height limit of 90 meters.

However, public concern over the potential obstruction of the view of the Guia Lighthouse forced the company to change the proposed height to 60 meters.

Melinda Chan, president of Macau Fisherman's Wharf International Investment Ltd, said that the group accepts that the hotel cannot be the previously proposed height.

"I personally think 60 metres is actually tall enough, although a 90-metre hotel looks prettier," Chan said. But I don't want anyone to be so concerned or make some people uncomfortable about the view there. I will file a request based on the height of 60 metres.

Chan also said she hopes the hotel will be allowed to house gaming facilities, as indicated in previous filings from the company.
