Melco Crown suspends cabaret show at City of Dreams

Melco Crown Entertainment has decided to temporarily suspend the Taboo cabaret show hosted at Club Cubic in City of Dreams, local media reports.

Up to 32 workers involved in the show who were hired by Dragone Macau will have their contracts terminated, and have been advised to look for other work, according to Business Daily.

However, Melco Crown said the closure was only temporary, and told the Macau newspaper it was a part of a strategy to improve the offering at City of Dreams.

"As part of the overall enhancement of City of Dreams, Taboo will undergo temporary closure," said the casino operator in a written email reply.

The company did not elaborate on when the show would be resumed.

With the mass market becoming more important in Macau, operators will be concentrating on revamping their mass market offerings.

Created by Franco Dragone, Taboo premiered in Cubic Club at City of Dreams in 2013  and was marketed as the "first and only world-class cabaret experience in Asia."
