Despite objections about shifting Goa's floating casinos out of the River Mandovi to the Aguada bay, the Captain of Ports (CoP) remains firm on two alternative locations in the River Zuari east and west of the bridge in River Chapora, according to local sources.
The Goa Home Department received around 2,500 objections and suggestions as to alternate locations to the River Mandovi. Around 2,450 applications were filed by casino employees opposing the move.
The Home Department has now asked the CoP to give its comments on the objections and suggestions filed by various citizens after which a final call will be taken on the location of the floating casinos. The Goa cabinet has given a deadline of Mar. 31st, 2016 to decide on the new location of the casinos.
