A total of 2,348 locals and foreigners have been detained by police in Johor for illegal online gambling, local media reports.
State OCCI Senior Asst Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said a statewide crackdown on unlicensed gambling outlets saw a total of 386 establishments raided in the first ten days of the month.
“We have seen a drastic decline in online gambling but at the same time, some of the operators have changed their tactics operating late at night,” he said in a statement, quoted by The Star.
Kamrul added that police also seized 316 tablets, 2,835 computers, 4,032 laptops and RM164,277 (US$38,600) cash.
