A Singaporean woman has been rescued by Filipino authorities after being kidnapped by three men and a woman at Solaire Resort and Casino on Tuesday, local media reports.
The kidnappers reportedly beat and threatened the woman in a room in Bayview International Towers where they demanded US$180,000 for her release.
Authorities were able to rescue the woman as part of an operation to nab a 45-strong kidnapping ring.
In a statement on Wednesday, BI’s Fugitive Search Unit and the police’s Anti-Kidnapping Group said the ring was suspected to be responsible for a recent string of high-roller casino tourist kidnappings.
A total of 26 foreigners were rounded up in the initial operation, three of which were identified by the woman as being her kidnappers.
19 more foreigners who are believed to be a part of the group were later arrested in a follow up operation.
