Police take down $13 million online gambling ring

Police have busted a VND300 billion (US$13.3 million) online gambling ring in Vietnam, arresting six individuals, local media reports.

Among those arrested were La Tung Thinh and Lu Vinh Loi, who are believed to be the ringleaders of the illegal operation.

The illegal website, named Vwin.com was first discovered in July 2016. After nine months of investigation, police conducted a raid on the suspects’ apartments in Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Noi, seizing documents, credit cards, laptops, ipads, cell phones and others.

The six men have confessed to have gambled via Vwin.com, according to police.

The case is still under investigation.
