Resilient loan-sharking ring busted by PJ

The Judiciary Police (PJ) have arrested another 15 alleged members of a Mainland-linked loan-sharking ring, Macau News reports.

The spokesperson said the gang had been active in casinos in Taipa and Cotai.

The suspects had reportedly been trying to recruit new members even after two rounds of arrests earlier this year.

A PJ spokesperson noted that police arrested a total of 21 gang members in police operations in March and June, but discovered the gang had recruited new members and resumed operations in June.

Police are searching for the mastermind behind the gang, and other members of the gang in cooperation with their mainland counterparts, said the spokesperson.

The 15 suspects will be transferred to the Public Prosecution Office (MP) for further questioning, and face charges for organized crime membership.
