SAFF Suzuki Cup announces Sportradar as integrity partner

The 2015 South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Suzuki Cup will kick off on the 23rd December in India under the watchful eye of Sportradar’s Fraud Detection System.

The tournament, in its 11th edition this year, will be played at The Sports Hub, Trivandrum Stadium in India and will consist of 12 matches played between Dec. 23, 2015 and Jan. 3, 2016.

For the first time, this biennial tournament, which pits South Asian countries such as India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Maldives, Bhutan and Bangladesh against each other, will have each game monitored by the Fraud Detection System, which will sift through the world’s widest range of betting operators in order to provide the South Asian Football Federation with a complete and detailed insight into what is happening in the global betting market. Sportradar, in coordination with the AFC Integrity Unit, will also assist SAFF to implement several prevention measures against match-fixing.

Speaking about the partnership, SAFF President Kazi Md. Salahuddin spoke about its importance: “The integrity and credibility of the SAFF Suzuki Cup is of the utmost importance to the organizers, fans, sponsors and other stakeholders of the tournament, thus we are partnering with Sportradar to send a strong message that SAFF employs a zero tolerance policy against any form of match-fixing. We spoke to the AFC and to various other partners and made the decision that with its strong track record in Asia, Sportradar would be the best integrity partner for our federation and flagship tournament.Today we have shored up our defences and now look forward to an event that will entertain and enthral in equal measure.”

“Sportradar applauds SAFF for its commitment to integrity. On our part we will be doing our best to prevent the possibility of match-manipulation and make sure that any individual or team that disrespects the spirit of Fair Play is identified and severely punished.” concluded Andreas Krannich, Managing Director Security Services at Sportradar.
