Stricter rules for foreigner-use slot machines

Gaming machines in Vietnam, currently used in facilities for foreigners, will soon be required to meet more stringent conditions, local media reports.

According to Vietnam Breaking News, slot machines will now have to offer a payout percentage of at least 90 percent, which must be written into software installed in the slot machine while in factory.

Should the operator of the facility change the payout percentage, or service / repair the machine in a way that could alter payout percentages, they would have to seek re-certification to sure the new percentage is not lower than 90 percent.

The certification companies chosen must also be operating in G7 countries, it added.

The new rules are reportedly part of Decree 175/2016/ND-CP issued on December 30, 2016, which amends some clauses of Decree 86/2013/ND-CP dated July 29, 2013.
