Suncity Group’s Philippine unit has donated P50 million ($1 million) worth of personal protective equipment to 40 public hospitals in Luzon province to help battle the coronavirus.
The equipment includes 50,000 pieces each of PPE suits, N95 masks, medical face masks, medical goggles, medical gloves and medical shoe covers. These PPEs were turned over to various hospitals on May 9, 2020.
According to PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Andrea Domingo, such undertaking was part of the collective efforts of integrated resorts to help Filipinos during these challenging times.
“Westside City Resorts World, Inc., a co-licensee of Travellers International Hotel Group (developer of Resorts World Manila) Inc. reached out to property developer Suncity Group to ask for donations. Fortunately, they immediately responded and they agreed to donate P50 million worth of PPEs for hospitals here in the Philippines,” she said.
Resorts World Manila Chief Operating Officer Stephen James Reilly likewise said that they have been working non-stop to also help in COVID-19 efforts of the government, and they have been looking for partners to extend relief not just in Metro Manila but also in parts of the country.
Last week Suncity Group signed an operation and management (O&M) agreement with Westside City Resorts World Inc. as part of its co-development agreement to operate a new hotel-casino in Entertainment City.
Suntrust, which is 51 percent owned by Suncity, will be the sole and exclusive operator of the main hotel-casino at Westcity City Resorts World – a five-star hotel with at least 400 rooms, a casino with 400 gaming tables, and 1,200 slot machines.
