Vietnam approves slot machines at international airports

Vietnam has approved in principle a plan to install slot machines in designated areas at international airports for foreign and overseas Vietnamese.

According to Tuoi Tre News, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung decided that local firms would offer gambling services in designated areas under the management of the Airports Corporation of Vietnam.

The Ministry of Finance was tasked with pooling and explaining the opinions of the prime minister, other deputy prime ministers, and the leaders of related ministries in a draft decree so that it could be submitted to the central government for consideration and final approval, the report said.

Locals are banned from gambling in Vietnam, though the government is currently studying draft legislation for the casino industry that may permit Vietnamese to gamble.
