China lottery sales up 7.3 percent in 2016

China lottery sales rose 7.3 percent to RMB 394.6 billion (US$57.5 billion) in 2016, according to data from the Ministry of Finance.

Welfare lottery sales rose 2.5 percent to RMB 206.5 billion, while sports lottery rose 13.1 percent to RMB 188.2 billion.

December saw a 7.2 percent increase in overall lottery sales, with welfare lottery sales reported at RMB 19.98 billion and sports lottery sales was RMB 16.6 billion.
